Goals:

Moked Amitim (Hotline for Friends) is a national call center to help people with disabilities know their rights and access social services online. It is part of Joint-Israel Unlimited’s Centers for Independent Living (CIL) program, which offers community-based assistance to people from all religions and backgrounds, and with all types of disabilities, including physical, visual, hearing, learning, mental, and cognitive. The facilities are operated by and for people with disabilities to support independent living within the community.

The Need:

Men and women with disabilities are entitled to rights and benefits from various entities such as organizations and government ministries. Due to a flood of information from multiple sources, it is often difficult for the average person to cull the appropriate material that enables him or her to exercise their rights. The hotline walks callers through the search and application process and helps them navigate websites and fill out forms.

Target Population:

  • Men and women aged 18 and over with all types of disabilities
  • Families of men, women, and children with disabilities
  • Professionals working with people who have disabilities

Activities:

The center can be contacted by phone, text message, website, or e-mail.

The hotline is staffed by Hebrew and/or Arabic-speaking professionals who offer guidance and refer applicants to the relevant service providers.

The service is free.

Moked Amitim operates Sunday-Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
