Submissions for the 2024 Zusman-JDC Prize Are Now Open

An opportunity to honor groundbreaking social excellence in Israel.

Since its establishment in 2003, the Zusman-JDC Prize has been the most significant recognition in Israel for innovative social work. This year, the prize will again be awarded to three winners who have distinguished themselves in their contribution to improving the field of social services in Israel. Each winner will receive a cash prize of up to $25,000.

Long-Standing Partnership in Social Work

The award is presented thanks to the many years of contributions of Leonor and Larry Zusman, dear friends of the State of Israel and the The Joint Organization.

Over the years, the Zusman family has cultivated a deep and meaningful relationship with the JDC, and is considered one of the organization’s most stable and committed partners. Thanks to their generosity, many social initiatives have been promoted, with an emphasis on integrating and advancing disadvantaged populations – including people with disabilities, the Haredi community, and Ethiopian-Israelis.

Award Categories for 2024

This year, the Zusman-JDC Prize Public Council selected three key categories that reflect today’s pressing social challenges – and the hope for change:

1. Projects to strengthen social cohesion and unity

The award will be given to initiatives that work to reduce tensions, strengthen a sense of belonging, and build bridges between diverse groups in Israel. Emphasis will be given to innovative projects that promote open dialogue, mutual trust, and cooperation within Israel’s stratified society.

2. Personal and community rehabilitation projects

This category is for projects that provide holistic responses to individuals and communities in crisis, exclusion, or vulnerability. The emphasis is on empowering recovery processes, strengthening internal strengths, and building long-term support networks.

3. Projects to encourage post-traumatic growth

The category recognizes groundbreaking initiatives, sometimes using technology, that are designed to help people and communities cope with traumatic experiences, and lead to processes of growth and renewal in their wake. The award will be given to initiatives that enable the conversion of personal and social pain into positive development, while creating new meaning, strengthening resilience and the ability to lead change.

Apply by June 16, 2025

The candidates will be reviewed by professional judging committees consisting of professionals from the Joint and social fields. The winners will be decided by the public council of the award.

If you are working to promote social excellence and initiate real change – now is the time to apply.
