Kol-Sherut, a platform by the Israeli NGO Kol-Zchut, provides an accessible, comprehensive database of social services across Israel, helping residents find essential resources, especially in times of crisis. In response to the events of October 7th, Kol-Sherut launched an emergency version to offer timely access to critical services such as shelter, mental health support, and aid for families of hostages. By leveraging government and nonprofit data sources and adapting quickly with manual data collection and expanded emergency categories, Kol-Sherut ensures reliable, user-friendly access to essential services for all Israelis. This document share the lessons on how to develop better open source platforms in times of crisis.
