Thank you, Sigal!

Sigal Shelach, PhD, our CEO for the past six years, is stepping down after a challenging and complex tenure during which she led Israel’s largest social organization.

Summing Up Her Tenure

Sigal led JDC Israel through difficult times, including Operation Guardian of the Walls, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Swords of Iron War. During these turbulent periods, when the needs of vulnerable populations in Israel reached unprecedented levels, Sigal was at the forefront, guiding the organization to an unparalleled scale of activity, culminating this past year in the largest emergency operation JDC has undertaken since World War II.

A Strategy for Significant Social Change

Under Sigal’s dynamic leadership, the organization intensified its efforts for Israel’s most vulnerable populations. She spearheaded the development of innovative, efficient, and measurable systemic solutions to national social and economic challenges with our partners. Throughout her six-year tenure, the organization faced various challenges and emergencies, including Operation Guardian of the Walls, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the events of October 7th. Despite these difficulties, and especially in the past year, we were present under Sigal’s leadership, working with and for vulnerable populations, developing new, targeted programs and adapting existing ones. Our reach expanded to new audiences, demonstrating that even in challenging times, positive change is possible, and lives can be transformed. Sigal’s legacy will continue to inspire for many years to come.

Thank You for Everything

Sigal, we thank you for your dedication, professionalism, and the immense impact you’ve had on the organization and Israeli society as a whole.
